The 52 Best Happy Hours in Chicago (September 2026)

52 Chicago happy hours our users visited most often and returned to. Real deals, real
times, by neighborhood, from $1 oysters to $5 wagyu burgers.

By Dinesaur Editorial · Updated September 2, 2026 · 12 min read

Chicago happy hour dishes on a restaurant table
The short version: Chicago happy hours cluster hard between 4 and 6 PM, and the average discount is roughly 36%. These 52 spots are the ones Dinesaur users visited most often and returned to over July and August. They are organized by neighborhood so you can find yours in about nine seconds.

Look, we all know how this goes. You spend the day doing something between "genuinely productive" and "convincingly typing," and at some point around 4 PM the only thought left in your head is that you'd like a drink that doesn't cost as much as lunch.

The problem is that Chicago's happy hour window is brutally short. State law caps discounted drinks at four hours a day and fifteen hours a week, which is exactly why almost everything here ends at 6 PM and why showing up at 6:05 gets you a full-price martini and a look of mild pity from the bartender.

So we pulled the list. Not the list we like, but the list our users actually used. Fifty-two places, grouped by neighborhood, with what the deal really is and when you have to be sitting down to get it.

How we picked these

We didn't rank by vibes. We started with the 400+ Chicago happy hours in our database, then looked at which ones people opened, visited most often, and returned to over July and August 2026. That's it. No sponsorships and no pay-to-play.

Every deal below was re-verified against restaurant menus in September 2026. Times and prices change constantly, though, so treat this as a very good starting point rather than a legal contract. When in doubt, the current menu lives on each restaurant's Dinesaur page.
